Maine Marks can be grouped by special initiatives within the three Children’s Cabinet priority areas: Early Childhood, Adverse Childhood Experiences/Resiliency or Youth in Transition.
Early Childhood Priority Initiatives
Task Force on Early Childhood/Early Childhood Systems Initiative

Through ten well-researched State Plan Goals, leaders and stakeholders, across systems and public/private sectors, ensure coordinated and humane systems and policies at state and local levels that provide and promote quality services for all young children and their families.

Promote and Support Universal Home Visiting Services Initiative

Home visitors focus on the use of child development and attachment as a framework for supporting and promoting healthy family functioning through the implementation of the Brazelton Touchpoints Approach. Touchpoints is a practical approach for enhancing the competence of parents and building strong family-child relationships from before birth through the earliest years, laying a vital foundation for children's healthy development.

Strengthening Families Initiative

Promote primary prevention of child abuse and neglect using the evidence- based approach of working with early care and education providers, who can better identify and provide families with needed prevention supports.

Communities for Children and Youth/AmeriCorps*VISTA Project Initiative

Prioritize the recruitment and distribution of AmeriCorps VISTA’s that support the capacity of local organizations. Through capacity building, agencies are better equipped to promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children, in an effort to counter the detrimental effects of poverty.
