High school graduates earn substantially more than persons who leave high school without graduating.
The percentage of persons aged 25 and older who have completed high school, either by earning a diploma or a high school equivalency, increased in Maine and nationally between 1997 and 2000, but Maine’s percentage fell somewhat thereafter. However, Maine’s rate has consistently exceeded the nation’s and now stands at 89% (2006).
