2001 Maine Marks

Indicator: 57 - Newborns Receiving Home Visits

To Be Developed

Why This Is Important

It is widely recognized that prenatal and post-natal types of care are vitally important for the early development of children. Families who arrange for their newborn to receive home visits by professional caregivers are actively helping to create a healthy life for themselves and their child. Maine has a number of home visiting programs at the state and local level. For this Maine Marks report, it was not possible to calculate a single, reliable statewide total of the number of newborns that received a home visit. Because of its critical importance, intensive effort will be made to generate such data in the fall of 2002.
